HP Instant Ink Program: What is it, Is it worth It?

Need a better way to print? Try the HP Instant Ink Program. Here's what you need to know before getting started.

Have you heard of the HP Instant Ink Program yet?

No?

Let me tell you about it, because I think it’s fabulous!

If you’re always out of ink, or if printing with massive amounts of colored ink scares you, or you’re constantly choosing grayscale/draft printing, you probably need to sign up for the HP Instant Ink program.

As a homeschool mom I print A LOT during our busiest school season, so I am currently signed up for the biggest package.  That package is $9.99/month for 300 sheets.  That equals out to about 3 cents a copy, no matter if it’s black and white, or fully colored.  If you go over that, the extra cost is hardly noticeable at just a penny more per sheet.  That’s super reasonable if you ask me!

If you don’t use all of your pages in a month, you can roll them over for the next month (up to the number of monthly allotted pages on your plan).  How great is that?!

Don’t worry; there are smaller packages if you aren’t a printaholic like me.  Read about those below.

The packages look like this:

$2.99 per month for up to 50 pages.  Each additional set of 15 pages is just $1.

$4.99 per month for up to 100 pages.  Each additional set of 20 page is just $1.

$9.99 per month for up to 300 pages.  Each additional set of 25 pages is just $1. *This is what we’re currently using.

You can change your plan at any time.  So during the summer when we don’t print as much, we will go down to the smallest package.

How it works:

Please don’t let this first step scare you, it’s a good investment!  I bought an HP printer that was compatible with the ink program.  Even though our old printer was okay, I was tired of buying or refilling cartridges for it, and it wasn’t on the compatible list.  We needed this upgrade for my sanity.

The printer I bought was the HP Envy 4520, because it had all the features I was looking for, at an affordable price.  The bundle I bought on Amazon also came with a month of free printing!

HP will automatically mail you ink when they detect your ink level running low.  It will arrive to your door before you need it, and come with a prepaid envelope to send in your old cartridges for recycling.  You aren’t charged by how many cartridges you go through, so go ahead and print in color, and print often!  I sure do!

If you’d to give this a try, you can use my referral link: http://try.hpinstantink.com/gtTtg to get a free month of service.

I totally agree with you, this is the best bang for your buck especially if you are a crazy printable creator like me! I was spending a fortune on ink in the past then learned about this program. Absolutely the best decision I have made so far and I highly recommend it!
Before I was not able to print out my printables before presenting them on my blog, the ink was just too expensive. Now I can print, adjust, reprint until things are just right. 🙂 Also great if you love to print coupons as well.
    Great tip!

Hey Friend! I am truly so glad that you’re here today!

At A Slightly Better Wife, I share about faith, homemaking, homeschooling, and marriage—along with my passion for creating a non-toxic, intentional home. Life isn’t about perfection, but I believe in making small, meaningful choices each day to do things slightly better than before.

My love for simple living and homemaking was deeply shaped by my grandparents. I have the best childhood memories of being in the kitchen with my Grandma Edna, learning the beauty of home-cooked meals and a well-tended home. My Grandpa Link’s storytelling and wisdom instilled in me the value of faith, family, and slowing down to listen during the little moments that make life rich. Their influence is woven into who I am today and I’m so grateful for that.

I’m a wife, a momma of 5, and a homemaker at heart. My husband and I met young, just days after my 18th birthday, and we quickly (like within a week) knew that forever was in our plans.

Together, we built our home on the edge of town, where we’re raising and homeschooling our children while embracing a simple, purposeful life in the city.

Here, you’ll find encouragement for your marriage, practical tips for homemaking, and inspiration to cultivate a home filled with faith and love. Whether you’re looking for a recipe, a fresh perspective, or just a place to feel understood, I hope you’ll stay awhile and explore.

Let’s pursue slightly better together!
